Favorite local dancer Joni Albao started the Blue Hawai‘i label over 20 years ago.
  
"There was a need for keiki (children) aloha wear and very few choices for visitors to the islands" says Joni.
  
Joni began her business with an eye for beautiful fabrics and simple to wear designs. She started retail sales in a small children's clothing store in Waikiki and it prospered. As the lead hula dancer for local entertainer Danny Kaleikini, she met many people with ideas to help develop and grow the business. Several years later, a growing wholesale business outgrew the Waikiki location and it was moved to Kaka‘ako. Manufacturing aloha wear fashions became a part of the business and many local retailers became clients. The business continues its growth today with sales to retail locations in Hawai‘i and around the world. Joni still brings her sense of style to all her fabric and pattern selections. Quality is what makes all the Blue Hawai‘i products last. The right fabric patterns mean more to the
discerning customer who wants to stay ahead of the trends.
